Strictly Hard Bean Coffee (SHB) beans are harder and denser than beans grown at lower elevations. They are grown at altitudes of 4,500 to 5,000 feet above sea level. SHB coffee beans ripen more slowly, and are more difficult to harvest because of this altitude. This leads to increased expense and lower yield. SHB coffee produces an intense flavor that has notes of berry and chocolate with a smooth aftertaste. Strictly Hard Bean coffees are in limited supply.
